Painting Holiday Success in Spain -- Posted by Artforms Gallery on Aug 2nd, 2011

A group of artists from Artforms Gallery Studio travelled on the 1st of July for a week, to the beautiful seaside town of Roses, in the region of Catalonia, Northern Spain. The artists painted at a variety of fantastic locations along the Costa Brava Coastline, from vineyards, Mediterranean sea views, mountains, fishing villages, fields of corn and sunflowers, olive groves, wildlife reserves and more. Their overall experience led them to produce a selection of drawings, watercolour and oil paintings. The joy of plein air painting in the Mediterranean climate meant the artists could paint in comfort, under their tutor, artist Mary Cassidy. The location of Roses itself is in a very historic area, dating back to early Greek and Roman times, with an interesting museum and well restored citadel that was originally an ancient trading post. Along with castles, a lighthouse and other historic features, Roses is a town that has something to offer everyone. The Artforms Artists were thrilled with the results of their weeks work. You can view the photographs of their experiences on both the Photo Gallery on this website or on Artforms Facebook. If you would like to join us on future painting holidays both here in Ireland or abroad please contact Mary Cassidy at Artforms Gallery by email info@artformsgallery.ie or phone 00 353 (0)86 8244280 or 00 353 (0)59 9139728

Artforms New Programme 2010 to 2011 -- Posted by Artforms Gallery on Sep 13th, 2010

Great news for all students of Artforms Gallery Studio: this year the programme is planned for the next three terms which gives students an opportunity to plan their creative diaries well in advance and book in for some fantastic workshops. My advise is to watch this space regularly as there will be other one off workshops throughout the coming year, including plein air, abstract workshops, pastel workshops, calligraphy and more. Indeed, if you or your group would like to organise a private class you can contact Artforms to make arrangements for a specialised workshop or series of classes to meet your requirements. Also look out for some wonderful cultural tours to Europe over the next year. As you know our cultural trip to Rome is due to kick off on the 20th of September and aswell as The Christmas Markets Tour on the 8th of December 2010. If you have any queries regarding classes, tours or other creative matters please contact me Mary Cassidy on 00(353)86 8244280 or 00(353)59 9139728 for further information. Have a great creative and cultural year

Annabel Konig Show I Smile at Life Opening Friday 10th October 2008 - 7.30pm -- Posted by Artforms Gallery on Sep 13th, 2008

Artist Annabel Konig draws on personal loss/grief to I Smile at Life in new exhibition.

I Smile at Life, a body of work by artist Annabel Konig, will be opened by artist Eamon Colman at the Artforms Gallery, Charlotte Street, Carlow on Friday 10th October. Continuing until 29th October, the exhibition leads one through the process of letting go and moving on after loss and was inspired by the death of the artist's brother. Further info is available at www.artformsgallery.ie

Annabel Konig is a visual-based artist who has been exploring the theme of the human condition and how it is viewed through various media for the last 20 years. Annabel is well-known for her award-winning installation pieces Ice to water, water to words and Felia Felium.

For I Smile at Life, Annabel has used the artist's 'essential tool' of drawing to explore the range of feelings and thought processes experienced through loss. In the 'sentence' that her work has created, one can experience the subconscious pouring, connecting with the conscious hand.

Using the image of stones, the 18 works in this exhibition journey through the different stages involved in a grieving process, documenting the artist's transition from raw feeling to calm conscious understanding. The works that I am showing in this exhibition were made in the past year and started as simple, necessary drawings to divert my mind from a sudden, enormous loss to then developed into a body of work which celebrates my brother's life

For further information please contact ArtForms Gallery.
